Eva Be - Eve’s Theme Tonight
The EP “Eve’s Time Tonite” is the debut release of the Berlin based DJ and producer Eva Be on the Sonar Kollektiv outlet Best Seven. Together with the guitarist and producer Boris Meinhold of the band Micatone she has completed 3 tracks that cover different musical styles and influences: from RNB/soul to Vienna-influenced Dub-House.
Eva Be and Boris wrote this tune in the summer of 2003. A summer in which the DJ Fichtie and Joe Dukie Tune “Midnight Marauders” (SB7010) ruled Eva Be’s DJ set. Thus the wish to work together with the New Zealand based singer of the band Fat Freddys Drop. So during a stop in Berlin Joe Dukie recorded these stunning vocals. He was missing his girl-friend after many weeks on tour…
The idea behind this tune was to bring in a country western feeling and combine it with a reggae riddim. The tune features Boris Meinhold on the guitar and well both Eva and Boris on the vocals … Did you know that Jamaicans love country music?
This track took a while until it was finished - a dub-house stomper. The legendary Sugar B. lends his vocals to this one. Sugar B. is one of the DJ’s and promoters of the “Dub Club” club-nite in Vienna’s finest Club “Flex” … “flex your body tight”.
